Name: Amahoro
The killing started in 1992, my husband was cut several times with a panga. He didn't die but was taken to the hospital and got better and we moved to another place. Then in 1994, we came back to our home and that's when the real killing began and when the militia badly injured my hand with a machete, leaving my husband and three children dead.
When the killing worsened I and other Tutsis took refuge in a church at Ruhango but the militia found us there and killed many people using different weapons. Many people died. They thought that everyone was dead and they left the church and that is how I managed to escape. At that time I was pregnant and when I was fleeing the situation worsened and I gave birth but I couldn't help myself and there was no one also to help me, so my new born baby died of hunger and cold. I began to rot. The RPF soldiers found me and took me to the hospital. When I got better, I went home only to find the house destroyed.
I am staying with my two children. The elder one doesn't go to school because I am disabled.
