Reading of the Testimonies NYC

To mark the 14th Anniversary of the Rwandan genocide on Monday 7th April, we are organising a Reading of the Testimonies of Survivors in Washington Square Park.

Following the success of the first Reading of the Testimonies staged in Trafalgar Square in London in 2004, Reading of the Testimonies NYC will see 100 students reciting the individual stories of 100 young survivors of the genocide over the course of a four hour event from 10am to 2pm. It will be the first outdoor event to be held in New York to mark the anniversary of the genocide, and will help raise awareness of the plight of young survivors and the legacy of the genocide. By taking the commemoration into a public space, together we will convey to young survivors in Rwanda that we, students in New York, remember the genocide, the survivors and the victims.

We now have all the readers we need, so many thanks for your interest and assistance.

We invite to get actively involved with SURF by keeping up to date with our activities, work and news – so please do join our mailing list!
