Supporting Organisations
Survivors Fund depends on the generosity and greater visibility of several key organisations to support its work in Rwanda and in the UK. Over the course of its existence, SURF has built wonderful relationships with some very recognisable charities. These charities support our work in a variety of ways, primarily through financial donations.
The Bromley Trust
The Bromley Trust has supported SURF's efforts to provide support to genocide survivors involved in the gacaca court system. More specifically, The Bromley Trust provided funding to give these survivors the legal assistance and protection they lack as they partake in the process of bringing justice to Rwanda.

Comic Relief
Comic Relief exists to tackle poverty and promote social justice by helping disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa to realise their aspirations and potential. This is done through fund-raising activities, education and awareness raising, and promoting social change. SURF has been in partnership with Comic Relief since 1996.

Department for International Development
The Department for International Development (DFID) is the UK government department responsible for promoting development and the reduction of poverty. The central focus of DFID policy is a commitment to the internationally agreed target to halve the proportion of people living in extreme poverty by 2015, together with the associated targets including basic health-care provision and universal access to primary education by the same date. DFID have been in partnership with SURF and AVEGA since 1999.
In December 2005, a new DFID funded programme coordinated by Survivors Fund and PACFA (the project of the First Lady of Rwanda, Mrs Jeannette Kagame) was launched. The five year programme will provide access to antiretroviral treatment and comprehensive care services for 2500 women survivors of the Rwandan genocide raped and infected with HIV, and their families.

The Lindean Trust
The Lindean Trust has been supporting SURF since 2002 supporting the home-based care programme to respond to the overwhelming psychosocial needs of the growing numbers of HIV/AIDS orphans in Rwanda following the 1994 genocide. The Lindean Trust continues to support child heads of households to rebuild their lives through supporting recreational and creative programmes run by orphans.
The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture
The Medical Foundation has been important in the work SURF does to support the victims of the Rwandan genocide to begin a healing process. The Foundation has great experience of working with people who have been subjected to tremendous terror and horrific events. The survivors of such experiences take long time to deal with their past, the Medical Foundation has provided a room and space in which to support victims.

The Nicholas Roth Memorial Trust
The Nicholas Roth Memorial Trust has generously supported the building and development of the Humura Testimonies Centre - in particular, providing the funding for a recreational facility for child survivors of the genocide within the testimonies centre. This important testimonies centre will do much to ease the long-term emotional and psychological pain of survivors, as well as provide a key tool to document the atrocities of the Rwandan genocide.

The Pears Foundation
The Pears Foundation provides SURF with key capacity building support, enabling SURF to raise awareness about the Rwandan genocide and the ongoing plight of survivors still struggling to recover from the devastating trauma caused by the genocide. Visit The Pears Foundation website.
The Sigrid Rausing Trust
The Sigrid Rausing Trust has funded SURF's efforts to protect the human rights of female survivors. The Sigrid Rausing Trust has supported a project to investigate gender-based violence, challenging norms on sexual violence and violence against women in general. The project also looks to increase the role of women as prosecutors and police officers in Rwanda.
